The white water slalom and Kayak races held by the Ontario Canoe Cruisers’ Club yesterday on the Humber River drew 78 competitors, despite the 35-degree water. Wolf Ruck fights rapids to get through one of the 30 gates; he finished the 800 metres in 7 minutes 18 seconds; finishing 14th. Reg Deburiatte completed the course in 5 minute 34 seconds to win the event. The weather was bad and the water was rough; but only one competitor capsized in near-freezing water.
